How is student data stored?
Sown To Grow stores all data in secure cloud-based data centers (located in the United States) using industry best practices on data security and encryption.
Who has access to student data?
The student, as well as the teacher (and any co-teachers) in the Sown To Grow classroom that they enter the data, as well as select school administrators. Students are not able to see other students’ data. Some District Administrators will see aggregated views of student data, but are only able to see data for specific students if they have been granted access to a particular school.
What happens at the end of the school year?
At the beginning of each school year, data from the previous school year is archived. Currently, this means that Students, Teachers, and School Administrators no longer see this data. However, we are currently looking into ways to allow Administrators to see aggregated data from previous years as well as “year over year” portfolios, and Students to be able to look back at their data from previous school years.
How do I delete student data?
Teachers are able to delete data by deleting their classroom, a module, or their account. Administrators are able to delete data by deleting a school-wide module.
NOTE: THIS ACTION IS IRREVERSIBLE, AND IS ONLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU ARE 100% SURE THE DATA WILL NEVER BE USED AGAIN.
Is data ever shared with third parties?
Sown To Grow does not share any individual student data with third-parties, with an exception for research purposes with permission from the School (in which case any student personally identifiable information is removed).
